Sousaphone decor

All,

I have a brass Holton Collegiate sousaphone that is need of major repairs. Since I already have two others and the cost to get this one fixed is going to border on the cost of a better horn anyway...I figured I should do something with it. I've had it for 20 years and it sat in the corner most of that time....

Now...I've already got two other horns in the house already so I was thinking of moving it outside and doing something with it for decoration.

Does anyone have any ideas? I am even up to ideas for in the house as well. Also, if I do put it outside....should I shellac it or something to keep it from becoming a big pile of rust?

I am thinking of just hanging it in the gingko tree out back and making my own tuba tree.

You thoughts?
jc

You could find a friendly city worker to mash it flat with a steamroller, then you could use it as a doormat.

Turn it into a mailbox stand, a bird feeder or incorporated into a creative lawn chair.
