A few years back.... someone was running contests to see who could rip up a piano and shove it through an 8" hole!

It's sad but lots of low brass instruments are sent to the melting pot. Parts is parts but I can't save all of them!

One year at Burningman someone made a huge sculpture/building out of about 100 dead pianos. People could hit the strings (and frames) with sticks or hammers and there was a small bar inside so you could listen and have a beer. At the end, the whole thing was burned - made some amazing sounds as the strings snapped!

It was a real mess to clean up afterwards...

You've probably seen this video before, but they tuned all the keys on the lower octave of the pianos to the same note so it didn't matter where they hit it as they drove past. I think it's pretty neat. I like to watch this group for their interesting music videos.

P.S. I learned how to put that URL in the word from this post. Look at me go :D
