Robert King's website has been hacked

Post by FarahShazam »

I would NOT order online from Robert King. It appears to have been hacked.

I went to browse a bit and noticed the title of the webpage is:
you must send 50$ to account 1829995 (e-gold) or your site will die. IF you send this info to admin. Ofcouse your site must die. You have 1 day for send money
Kind of funny, but I thought I would mention it to you guys that like to order stuff online. They do have a fax order form.

Anyone know how to contact them to let them know?

Judging from my own experience with Robert King, they won't notice for a year or two.

Seriously.

I drove up there one day (only about 40 miles from me) during normal business hours. I walked inside (front door wide open) of the old converted church and no one was there. There were piles of music all around with no one in sight. I could have loaded up my car and been gone with no one knowing. From that point on I decided to do no more business with them.

I dropped a note to their web hosting provider detailing the problem. The nature of the hack might interest law enforcement and may just result in things getting cleaned up more quickly.

I also quit doing business with them after sending a check for a lot of music that was listed, and not getting most of it due to being (permanently) out of stock; did they send the rest of my money back? Nope! The kept it and called it "credit." That was the end of THAT for me with King.

Here's the response I received from their hosting service:
Hello Chuck,

Thank you for your concern. The owners of the website contacted us regarding this matter earlier this week. It is currently under investigation and will be cleaned up shortly.

Thanks,

Wade, I suspect that will happen to coincide with freezing temperatures in the warmest of places.

It seems to be fixed. I'm glad I saw it. It gave me a chuckle.
