Unimat mini lathe

Good day,
So my mother is going through some of my late father's workshop items and one of these items is a Unimat mini lathe. I know he used it for making some custom gun parts (he was a weapons dealer) and was wondering what all I could do with this mini lathe. Is something like this able to say cut brass for a mouthpiece or is it too small for that? I would like to keep and use a lot of his old tools for sentimental reasons but also want to know what I can use this for.

Thanks in advance.

They are nice little machines - little being the operative word.
Fine for making small precise things like rods & screws. Might be okay for polishing the rim on a tuba mp but wouldn't be of much use for making one.

Used mainly by hobbyists making things like miniature steam engines and such. Tooling costs same as for a "real" lathe.

To be of much practical use, one really needs about a 9" X 24" lathe.

These minis have their uses but little when talking about tuba sized projects.
