Question re: R.A. Kaempfe

Post by ella »

I was hoping someone on the board could possibly help me.
Reinhardt August Kaempfe (R.A. Kaempfe), was my 2nd Gr Grandfather. I have done my family genealogy and was hoping that perhaps someone could offer a little more to what I already know about him and the family. Reinhardt, a brass insturment maker, as was his father Franz, emmigrated from Saxony, Germany, around 1872. He opened a store in NYC with his son, Albert. I believe it was around 1878.
Albert was one of 3 sons, one of which was my Gr Grandfather, George, who was a machinist and not in the business. Reinhardt died in 1904 and the successor to the business was C H Ridgely in NY. I read somewhere on this board that son Albert worked for Brua C. Keefer around 1911 in Williamsport, PA, until his death by a self inflicted wound in 1917. I cannot confirm this and I am trying see if anyone could give me the source of this information regarding Albert. Before I can document any research, it's important that I have a source. I do have some great pics of R. A.'s instruments that I found online and an old advertisment of the business, but nothing more.

I would so appreciate any help.

Thanks,
Ellen
