This links to a Facebook post from Willson, showing a valveset to interpose in an alp horn.
I guess you would need a different valveset with different slide lengths for each pitch of alphorn.

Here's another 'take' on a chromatic Alphorn... the chromatic part begins at about 5 minutes.

By-the-way... traditional Alphorns are pitched in F or F# (Gb as the Europeans say).
About the original post... Most Alp horns I see have two top sections. One for Gb and one about 8" longer for F. 'Plugging' the F horn valve section onto the Gb Alp horn setup would drop the higher pitch to F. My Alp horn was made some years ago and has a separate center section that's about 8" long.
I had not thought about doing this with my own Alp horn but plan to do so with one of the F horn 'carcasses' I have hanging from the shop ceiling.
Thanks to the OP for the post.

It was a cultural, pre-electronic tweet from one mountain to the next, an invitation to come on over für eine bier.
