Just saw this bit come across the wire!!!!

The library at Marine Corps Base-Quantico burned down today. While there were no injuries, the entire contents of the library was lost. "It was a real shame, both them books was favorites of the General and only one was colored in" SGM Bocephus T. Poondabber was heard to lament. Donations for the replacement of the two books and a new set of crayons can be made to the USMC Literacy Fund.

Chuck" who really does love the Marine Corps, but felt it was time to trot out that old joke in honor of our esteemed Board and Tuba operator who is in the Army" Jackson

That headline freaked me out!

Thank goodness the other three books are kept in a safe alternate location...

It may not be widely known that MARINE is actually an acronym:
Muscles Are Required, Intelligence Not Essential.
With apologies to my fellow Leathernecks and Devil Dogs,
Mike (USMC 1990-1994) Finn

Of course, I Know lots of good Navy jokes, but I don't want to start that kind of war. Easier to poke fun at oneself.

The IQ sounds a little high. Good joke, though!

Now, no need to be mean. I take exception to that comment.

I think my IQ only dropped 40 points, not 60.

As soon as I saw the subject and the author's name, I knew where this one was going - (groan).

We have had a few "rocket scientists" in the Army, too, and I'm sure the other services do too, to some extent, but I'll always support our Marines.

For example, one day while I was stationed at the Armed Forces School of Music on staff, I heard some US Army Soldiers giving some young Marines a hard time. I stopped those young Soldiers in their tracks and told them that the United States Marines deserved the utmost respect - after all, they are the very best army that the Department of the Navy can muster. . . . .
