I just put in a best offer on a five valve 1291 with a dent on the bottom bow. I really wanted the 1281 F also listed but there wasn't a best offer option. I don't particularly need/want a 1291, so my offer was really low. Worst case scenario, if I end up getting it I can always try to trade for something else.

Here is a quote from the article about them:

So if I take $1.8 billion in debt, and I assume that the debt was used to purchase instruments for the showrooms, and further assume that they stock their showrooms with tubas only, at $10K each, that would be 180,000 tubas in the showroom. Even if you now spread that over many store locations, that's still a pretty awesome showroom display (and at $10K a pop, those are pretty nice tubas being displayed). Can you imagine going into a music store that has hundreds or thousands of tubas sitting there?

Even if the instruments being displayed were Boesendorfer imperial grands (at a quarter million apiece), that debt would still be enough for 7,200 pianos.

Time to wake up and stop dreaming.

No 1291 for me. My offer of 1500 (listed for 6800) was met by a counter offer of 6000.

Just going by the Brasswind web page, they have 1292's really cheap. I'm tempted although they may not actually exist - advertising BS. My brain is still telling me I should have a 4/4-5/4 CC with 5 valves, but I'm doing fine with my BMB 4 valve J844 CC. I use it in a concert band and a brass band and my section mates tell me to keep using it.

But..... I'm doing mostly trad. jazz here in Texas and my 621CC is serving me great. I could use a CC sousaphone for sound and look because my brain can't do BBb and improvise at this stage of my life. Any interest in my MW 3450? Although it's a great tuba, I'm not playing it and it's the next to go. PM me if interested. I'm drinking and rambling..... back to the original topic.

Since some are ebay, I got the impression that they would be willing to reduce the price by 9% (ebay's seller fee) if you called, explained, and purchased it directly through them.
