Carbonite backup transfer? Help!

Has anyone used Carbonite to back up your computer? And the big question: Has anyone figured out how to get Carbonite backup information into a new computer? My old one crashed and needed to be replaced, but I was just happy I spent the $50. for Carbonite, as everything I need is on there. My problem is figuring out how to get it back into my new computer. I get the feeling that the problem somehow is going from XP to windows 8, but I can't find anything in the instructions about any problem. It all seems pretty straightforward, but it isn't working!
Also: why won't a subject appear in the header? I am obviously typing the body of this post, but the subject won't work. I think I hate Windows 8 already!
