San Antonio's new concert master.

Post by Tubaryan12 »

While his father was our music director, and while he was finishing up at the Cleveland Institute of Music, this young man performed with us often (most times, showing up and sight reading the concert). Congratulations Eric.

I'd say he comes from good lineage. Wouldn't you?

IMHO, the San Antonio Symphony is a much better orchestra than the city of San Antonio actually deserves. With tax dollars we have helped subsidize the San Antonio Spurs, an organization whose budget DWARFS that of the symphony. In the meantime, there has been little help from city gov't, and inadequate support by local businesses who would be capable of keeping the orchestra out of bankruptcy. The truth is that this is a really good orchestra.

It is good to see a concertmaster who obviously has earned his chair.

The San Antonio Symphony is a fantastic orchestra. It is a shame it does not pay its players more. I can't think of another orchestra that has produced so many "top 10" orchestral players than the San Antonio Symphony (and the players that choose to stay are just as amazing).

His father is a pretty good horn player as well. (but he gets his looks from mom)

Indeed. Every time I would hear him play it made me glad I didn't major in music.
