Online etymological dictionary says it comes from 13th Cent. France
Prefix: de- for "un"
root: struere- for "structure"

"onomatapoeia" dates from 1577

more likely french words that may be onomatapoeias

retreat
surrender
arrogance

sounds like a plot sequence for the new Jean Claude van Damm movie

That alone takes it out of the onomatapoeia category. Onomatapoeias derive from the sound they emulate, not from other words.
