Stand lights

I need to order new stand lights for the community band. What do you recommend, keeping in mind that about half of the band are, well, should we say, in need of extra assistance seeing in a brightly lit room? We are hoping to keep this at a minimal cost, but don't want to buy junk. The only real requirement is they need to be battery operated and would prefer LED lights.

Those aria lights look great, but they are expensive.
Many players in my band bought two cheap LED clip lights ($10 or so each) for our outdoor night performances, but they also use them in dimly lit auditoria. These not only give a broader spread of light than a single lamp, but it gives you a backup in case one fails. I admit they are not as classy, but you can find lots of these by googling LED clip light

I just wish Lampcraft would come back with their 'ConcertLight'. It's the best stand light I've ever found. I think they still market an LED light but it might not be rechargeable. I don't mind charging batteries after a gig but don't like having to replace them in the middle of a gig.

It's powered by normal batteries but can also be supplied by a normal charger.
I find it much useful and it's always on my stand at home.

I've used the Mighty Bright Orchestra Light for a couple of years now. No complaints. The 9 LEDs provide a good spread of light on your music. The goose neck design is nice so you can adjust it easily. There's a black plastic flange to keep light from spilling out toward the audience. Also, there's two intensity settings. 3 AA batteries are said to provide 14 hours of light on high, or 20 hours of light on the lower setting.
It's a bit pricy at $60 at
Amazon or
Musician's Friend but worth it in my opinion.

If you buy at least 50 then the price is only $110, and that is for the top of the line BRIO, battery/line variable output.

I know you said you don't buy junk...but I bought 20 of these for the big band I front. We have used them on 10 three hour dance jobs and are still on the first set of batteries. We also have adapters for plug in use (although I don't think I will use them). If I have a few fail - eventually - they are cheap enough to replace. I also carry one in the bag of each horn I play. I have a set for the jazz combo, the brass quintet, and the trombone/euphonium quartets.
This is about what three of the "Top of the line" lights would cost.

I have also discovered that an o-ring around the switch will prevent accidental "ON" while in storage and save battery life.

For that price, and with a recommendation from some one using them in real life, I'll have to give this serious consideration. I'll take all of these suggestions/recommendations to the board and see what they want to do.
