I would ask if you know anyone who plays tuba, and has lived forever. But you'd have to live forever to verify that, I'd have to live forever to get the story, and hopefully both of us would be playing the tuba so it wouldn't be news anyway.

I think Bloke is messing with us again. This is two unrelated statements. First he knows a person (singular) who plays the tuba. OK that's nice and around here very common. They (multiple) got cancer and died. Well, who is "they"? it certainly is not a single person. Thus it is not the person he knows who played the tuba (although the group could include that person I guess). But it is a group of people (group as defined by two or more persons). So Joe, what did they all do or were exposed to that caused them to have cancer and die? More importantly, why are you messing with us tuba players?
