I love when people use Wikipedia as a source.

To me, it says "I just wrote two things -- this paper/article/column, and a Wikipedia page."

Were we moved to start a thread with vague complaints about web sites that investigate widely repeated BS?

Are you still going on the one about Memphis public transit or whatever it was?

Previous generations have not always been well served by US media journalism, but now we're entering a new phase where apparently people's view of the world comes from the "blogosphere", an information source that's pretty thin on original research. I suppose this explains some of the current political absurdity. Like the press of yesteryear, wikipedia, snopes, etc. are for better or worse what we have.
