This is Bobo & that was his name at the shelter. Got him for my blind dad after his eyes (my mom) passed. He didn't want a real guide dog since he felt there were people more in need than he. So I got Bobo and I trained him to act as a guide dog. He is a mix of Australian Shepherd and Pointer. He is big and powerful - 95 pounds. When my dad passed he came to live with me 8 years ago and now at 15 years old is blowing me away with how lively he still is. The middle picture is after a 5 mile hike in the forest back in March and he averages about 20 miles a week. Amazingly friendly - he especially loves little kids and lets them climb all over him. I suspect the original owner who turned him in at the shelter when he had to go into a nursing home was a tuba player as Bobo will bring me music or grab a mouthpiece and nudge me to pick up a horn and play. He then lays on my feet and listens. Just a wonderful dog - everybody loves Bobo (both the dog and his namesake)!

we live on a farm at a crossroads. people leave us furry bundles of joy all the time. we have Doc check them out and we manage to find homes for the healthy ones and the terminal ones are euthanized. we have kept several...

Good on you. I will never understand how people can just dump a pet somewhere or worse the ones that chain them up and leave them to die. And then there are the ones who will just toss a kitten or puppie out of a moving car even at highway speeds. They just caught a guy here who tossed a puppie in the middle of a busy intersection. They caught him as it was captured on video from a dash cam. Unfortunately, the penalties still aren't stiff enough for these jerks.

And a plug for adopting older animals. The shelters are full of great older pets (a lot of them who end up there through no fault of their own - their owners either passed away or had to go into a facility) and you don't have to go through all the puppy training.

"Maggie". She is a very smart dog. Still going strong.




"Cody" was an older dog with a terrible time of life (long story). I really have never heard of a dog that had it much worse than Cody, even on those animal rescue shows. All that changed one day (another story) & he appreciated beoming a well cared-for couch potato & well-outlived the average Saint Bernard.

This is Bandit! He is a Siberian Husky and will turn 4yrs old in July. He likes to lay under my chair when I play tuba. The cat, however, hides under our bed upstairs...

This is Ringo . Our 6 year old Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier. He's not a pure bred but we don't know what's he's mixed with. Best dog ever . All 65 pounds of him.
