Currently in the process of trying to transcribe Stevie Wonder´s "I Wish" for community band.
Simply because it´s a new, educational project. So there´s no time Limit, and I have no idea if / when any ensemble will ever have to suffer from the outcome of my attempts, based on

- rudimentary knowledge of harmonics
- NO experience with chord-based instruments such as guitar or Keyboards (and no Access to said instruments).
- reasonably good ears, but NO theoretical background to translate sound impression into written chords.

I want to do this as "werktreu" as possible, so just making something up according to a lead sheet is not an Option.
If it weren´t for the notation software being able to play back the stuff I wrote, there would be no chance for me to get this even close.

What strikes me most is that I start "Hearing things", in that I write down stuff that isn´t really on the recording at all, but I´m convinced I heard.
Yes, this IS educational, in that it teaches me admiration to People who compose and arrange for a living, and create (rather than reproduce) music that touches both mind and heart.

Perfect pitch helps a LOT. Transcribe first, arrange second. Good luck...that's quite a project.
