It takes a lot more water to get the Mississippi to record levels, or even fairly high levels, than for smaller tributaries.
My little brother,( who has recovered nicely from his life-threatening medical emergency of last year, thanks for all prayers and Blokes's offer of a stop-over on the trip,) lives in Pocahontas, Arkansas. The Black River there was forecasted to exceed the levels it got to just a few years ago by a couple of feet. I think that last time was their record. He lives well above the water, but some roads were cut off.
I always thought there should be a "Polkahontas" musical.
