I can't keep up with what all the kids are doing these days...

Everybody wants one but are too cheap, or just financially can't, purchase one. So.... that don't stop us from testing one (aka kicking the tires). We might even consider purchasing the knock off copy (which is very serviceable). Most of us are in the wanting/considering mode. Need has nothing to do with it.

So, how's about letting in those of us who don't know the "latest worst-kept-secret"?

I'm sure it's just the lighting/reflections... but that photo makes the tuba look extremely "round."

The Eb is done and ready to go. Eastman has just finished up a Piston F tuba, and a 6/4 CC Eastman York. They are waiting to do an official unveil once all three horns are ready to go, at that time they will be ready for purchase. If you will be at any tuba conferences, Midwest, NAMM or like conferences they should have these horns there for people to try out...........

So Wessex and Eastman are both going to drop 6/4 piston CC tubas at roughly the same time? Is there really that much need and desire? Just when I thought people were coming to their senses and shying away from this silliness...

I think the "affordable" 6/4 CC is a pretty marketable horn. Lots of folks love the sound of 6/4 BATs or could use one sometimes, but can't justify spending $15K on a(nother) horn.

It is sort of like those huge F-250 trucks or Hummers. Very few people actually need those vehicles for work or recreation, but lots of folks still want to own them. Lets face it, nobody picks tuba because it is the smallest horn. Big tubas appeal to tuba players, and Wessex/Eastman seem to know their target demographic. Practical? No. Cool and fun? You betcha!

Sometimes I think about switching back to BBb...

I've considered the B&S GR51 as an option for some time as well... but like you, would find it easier if they would just make a CC version of it...

But frankly, at that point, it's pretty close to what I already have, and not really worth changing!

I agree... but I'm just thinking that many of these people would be happy enough (and erase their curiosity) by spending a few hours with one of these, rather than having to buy one.

Does the Tuono have more of the GR55 bell profile, though?

I have to admit though, I forgot about the Tuono as an option, mostly because of the $14k+ pricetag. REALLY nice tubas, though!

The large rotary CC tuba combination is tricky. A small market for them means little economy of scale, and higher prices.
