TV antennas.....

I have over the airwaves TV, no cable. I'm so close to the mountains that I'm in a signal shadow. However, the trailer, which is sitting in the driveway, gets all the local channels. The house, major problems. I have to move the indoor antenna I have to get one set of channels and put it a different place to get a different set of channels. Problem is, doing a channel search each time I move it is time-consuming and a pain. And it won't "try" to receive a channel that it didn't find in the channel search. On top of that, after a certain number of "no signal" tries, it will remove a channel from its list. (This is all the TV.)
So...since the trailer in the driveway has no problem, I am thinking of getting an outdoor antenna of equal quality to whatever that round thing is up there on top of the trailer. One I can stick on the porch and run the cable through the window, basically.

Are your local TV stations in one direction from you or in several different directions? Directional antennas are more efficient than the omni-directional type, but must be rotated (by a motor) to point at the direction the signal comes from. If you don't want to bother with that, perhaps an omnidirectional antenna with a built in amplifier would work. There are many brands out there so it might be a good idea to ask for advice from a local engineer or a ham radio operator who operates in the VHF-UHF range of frequencies. P.S. There are capacitative through-window feeds which don't require you to drill a hole in the wall for the lead-in wire, with hopefully only a minor signal loss.

I'm going to need an omnidirectional antenna because of being in the signal shadow for some stations and not for others. I have to move the one I have and its best location is hanging from the ceiling, which I'm not going to do. I've tried other amplified typical digital antennas and they weren't any better than this one.
Not up to making my own.
I didn't know about capacitive through-window feeds, and will put that in my vocabulary while searching.

From my experience, the only difference between digital and analog antennas is the price mark-up. I built one of these at a cost of $11 seven years ago and it works better than my $60 digital HD antenna. You make want to look into purchasing a signal booster/amplifier depending on how far the trailer is from your house.

Mine has a pre-amp. Like I said, I tried a different one that said way gonga things about itself and it was no better, maybe even slightly worse, than this old pre-amped Rat Shack one is.
The trailer has one of those round antenna things on top....looks like a big plastic mushroom on the roof. It's, like 12 feet in the air, and the inside of my house is much lower than that. I suspect that may be why the trailer has reception....its antenna is higher than the edge of the signal shadow.

I cannot find anywhere that says this is available any more, and you just bought one.....Amazon, ebay, walmart say no longer available. How can it disappear in just a few days?

I have this Wineguard antenna on my rv and it works great. Notice the long piece coming off the sides. I had to add those to what already existed to really boost the reception. It was worth the extra $ 20.00 .
