The ENT told me that the soft palate would grow back to once again close off the nasal passage so I can play again, and that a permanent air leak is very rare
.

I have been on CPAP since 1997. I've read personal accounts of uppp that sound like horror stories. VERY painful. Seal takes years to form or never forms. Muscle and nerve structure damaged and never recovers, and what's worse, the apnea comes back in six months to a year and cpap won't work (NO SEAL, remember). Only thing left is a treacheostomy (sp?).

Apnea is serious. You MUST get it treated or it will likely kill you, BUT-- think many times before you have surgery.
