I have a 1953 Kay Upright bass that I was going to restore for myself but time and money have made it an unreasonable project. Instead of letting it sit for the next 10 years, when I might be able to afford it, I want to sell it to someone that will fix it and play it now.
My question is, anybody know where to post it online in order to get it in good hands? I'm close enough to Nashville that I'm going to try Craigslist but I was also hoping to cast a wider net.
Thanks,
Matthew

There's http://talkbass.com, very active site that has a for sale section. I can't positively recall, but likely you have to be a paying member to post an ad.
I suppose you're not going to put it in the mail. There might be some ways to get better coverage in your geographical area, just in case not everyone reads craigslist. Someone in the business (a.k.a. "luthier") might have some ideas.

Re: Selling a Kay Upright Bass
One thing about craigslist that makes it a little irritating - so you're going to sell your upright bass there, or your string bass? Or your contrabass? Or would that be, double bass? Plenty of other names if one of those won't do, and most of them pull in more extraneous junk like double bass drum pedals, 5-string bass, etc.
But to return to the present case ... if anyone goes to craigslist looking for a bass, I bet they're mostly looking for a bass that's a player, not a project. Could be wrong.
