I was third chair viola of 3 in our string techniques class orchestra. Probably for very good reasons.

Could you see the eclipse safely through the reflection off the viola??

That could be its' greatest contribution to science and music!!

Whew! We sacrificed a virgin and the sun came back. (She was a viola player.)

Well THAT was the biggest bust since Y2K!!

(The eclipse, not the virgin viola player)

It rained here. Actually think it was darker before the eclipse than during.

And, I didn't go blind. Lame!

Weird, when I was in college we sacrificed virgin bassoon players.

Hey, I'd like to be forced to play the viola with this woman as my teacher.

The cicadas fell silent when we hit 69% in NY. A whole bunch of turkey vultures also returned to roost for the night only to discover the return of the sun some 10 minutes later.

Yes, we are all going to die (eventually).
For today, it's just the Finnish: On pilvistä !

Here in Oz we didn't get an eclipse BUT, I did get a new computer so have been able to get back on Tubenet for the first time in 3 months. At least you didn't have to pay a heap of $$ for your eclipse but, the computer should last longer.

Still oompahing in FL. Was about 80% covered here. Looked a lot like Bob's picture. Glad I still had my welding helmet. :)

We had about a minute and a half of totality here in Nebraska, but it was cloudy, so I only got to see the halo for a few seconds here and there. It still got dark enough for the street lights to come on. It was pretty cool! I certainly enjoyed it. My oldest child told my wife (they were watching at home while I was with students at work) "this is my favorite childhood!" I'm glad the kids were so excited by it.

The sun should be forced to shine equally on all people.

Or at least to nuke it. That'll make Kim Jong Un sit up and take notice!
