How do you listen?

Just wondering how everyone listens to music, assuming they do, in their free time. Stream, iPod, Zune, CD, vinyl, etc.

Asking since I’ve been listening near exclusively to streaming or downloaded music but want to start purchasing some more CD’s or get a turntable and start down that road. I have no idea where to start though and figured I’d ask here.

What you need for listening depends on what style of music you are listening to. If you are interested in very old jazz you are looking for the old gramophone and 78 records. Most everything else can be found on CDs. For personal listening you can do well with a portable CD player and good headphones. Turntables are making a comeback, but they have some quirks and are expensive. Purists seem to think that provide better sound. I'm not so sure.

Mostly Spotify streaming because it is convenient. Sometimes I go to the trouble of putting on a CD or record, but not often. Vinyl does sound the best, if it is mint condition high end vinyl. Most old classical music vinyl is junk in terms of audio quality.
