Re: Which model is "The Oleomargarine Of Tubas"?
Let's see: the purpose of oleomargarine was to take the place of butter. It had to have yellow food coloring added to make it look like butter. Otherwise, it was no different in appearance than a block of shortening. So it was originally a substitute for butter. Now the question: what tuba takes the place of the "real deal," but plays and in some circumstances is preferred for a variety of reasons, including price?
The obvious answer, whichever company markets it, just like there is block oleo, whipped margarine, etc., with all the marketing claiming which one spreads better, tastes better, etc.: a Miraclone.

(Looks like the real thing, but it's not. It's cheaper, but it just might kill you some day)

A 6/4 tuba. You think it's going to be better for you and then find out it's killing you.

I may - actually - need to award you with an "Honorary Southerner" ball cap.
You would - of course - need to add your own sweat stain.
But only in appropriate context. I think some churches might frown upon it...
Sometimes nothing can be a pretty cool hand... er, hat i mean.
