Urethral stent....NOT!!

Post by MaryAnn »

Even if you are female, when you reach a certain age and have male friends who talk to you, you learn a lot about prostate problems. My younger brother had his PSA spike about five years go, said TAKE IT OUT and after adjusting to the differences is completely happy with the outcome. At 62 is playing competitive tennis.

Two other friends have had varying degrees of the "roto rooter job," One just the general reaming and the other with sections of prostate also removed because his PSA continues to be high. Both very, very happy with the outcome and "operating normally." The one who was athletic is back to taking 15 mile hikes in the mountains, in his 70s.

Then, yesterday, another guy I know very well had a urethral stent put in, Unlike what I would do, he did not research the hell out of it before he agreed to it, and as of last night he was very unhappy with what it turned out to be. They put metal wires from both the front and the back of the prostate to hold the stent in place, meaning his prostate now has foreign material in it permanently, far from the rooter jobs level of invasiveness. He's in a lot of pain, is bleeding a lot, and not in good shape. It will not surprise me if in the future the stent has to be removed, giving him further pain, danger to his life, and complications.

So I'm putting this here because the vast majority of you are guys: Don't do a damn urethral stent. These doctors get a new toy and they like to mess with it in innocent victims. My opinion of course. I do NOT just flat out trust doctors with my health. I research every single freaking thing and most often do not accept what is offered by the allopaths, always finding less damaging and equally or more beneficial treatments in the alternative world.

I has a cystoscopy done.

If they can't find what they are looking for with an MRI in the future....

It will just have to kill me.
