NBA Finals......Who Cares?

I gotta tell ya', I am bored to tears with the NBA. I couldn't care less who wins the championship, the friggin' playoffs are longer than the regular season (this is to grub more money, not to improve the game) and the total lack of character displayed by so many (over paid) players just gauls me. I heard a report that TV viewership is down 40% from last year, and I don't doubt it. Anybody else feel the same?

strange how baseball is making a silent comeback.. not 5 years ago MLB was dead and NBA was king, now look at how much the media has loved MLB these last 2 seasons.

I like the Spurs. I watch it because it's the Spurs. The Pistons are cheaters who will get theirs. That's the only reason I care about the Finals is because the Spurs are playing.

I, too, was born in Fort Wayne, then moved north outside Detroit.

The NBA brought this on themselves by emphasizing individuals over teams. Now, when the final two teams don't have any "big" stars on them, no one really knows what to do.

It may not be as exciting, but it's better basketball.

You want to see Shaq vs. Yao? Give 'em tennis raquets.

ps--this idea shamelessly stolen from Coach Paul Hewitt and AJC sportswriter Mark Bradley. I don't watch basketball.

Bloke,

That is a picture of a euphonium, not a baritone. (It also plays better because it's silver.)

I know this goes against all the comments about the NBA not being team oriented anymore (claims I agree with), but...

basketball just ain't the same for me without Michael Jordan. No one was as complete a player (and, he was a decent person and a good role model, to boot!).

Well the Spurs won!!! You can say what you want about there not being any more "teams", but last night both teams truly played for each other and not for themselves. Detroit gave an excellent effort but San Antonio just wanted it more. If you missed it last night you missed a great game.

I know one of the PR reps from the Suns is a good friend of my Dad and last time we talked I told him the reason I cancelled my season tickets is I am sick of a bunch of guys scoring baskets and flashin their "stuff" like they are a rapper or something, the NBA in general is targeting a croud and style that I am just not in to.
