Just wondering if there are any disc golfers out there in the tuba world. I have found locally that a lot of music majors play disc golf as an outlet to let out frustrations and to get outdoors for a change. Its a great sport and a lot of cheap fun! MC

Yes, I am very much a disc oriented person. I've been captain of my high school ultimate team for the last three years and recently signed on to play in college. Disc golf is a great way to build up your frisbee skills.

Two of my least prefered "sports": combine to be even less fun.

I work with some golfers though, and they keep setting up a course at cook-outs.

When my city decided to spend a few thousand bucks setting up a disc golf course I thought they were crazy. I listened to the council meetings and watched the experts talk about how popular this thing was and people would come from miles around to play. I sat there thinking "this is nuts....who would do that?" Fast forward a few months after the thing was built. On any given day, I would bet there are at least as many disc golfers as there are on the local golf course in my city. They are there every day it doesn't rain or snow. Who would have guessed???

Never considered tuba playing a "sport" though. Marching a sousaophone maybe, but then you're not really in the game, more like the hole in golf.

I´d say, anybody who doesn´t work up sweat as a tubist in band just isn´t trying.
Playing tuba and meaning it definitely IS a sport, especially if you´re asked to blow away a 90 persons wind band with a section of seven tubas. (As in Rob Goorhuis´ "Variations on a Pentatonic Theme", testpiece for concert division at WMC in Kerkrade, Netherlands this summer)
Gives your abdominals and your face one helluva workout, too.
My grin has changed quite a bit this year, and so has my tummy (but that´s a different story and not necessarily due to playing ).
