Yeah, someone forwarded it to me too, and i spent a while trying to figure it out...
I think i settled my guess on Holton-esc, if as a vaguely recall some of the earlier ones were made in France?
But i really got no strong supporting logic.
Seeing this thread, i kinda had hoped someone had already IDed it...
Anyway, yeah sad to imagine the hole in the back where the drain is.
