Thanks, Farah. Very nice video.

I still regret I didn't get to talk with you at the U.S. Navy Band's excellent concert at Sonoma State University CA a year or so ago. I chatted with your great bass trombonist during the intermission. He explained that you didn't make the tour, the reason I have forgotten.

Best, Ace

I had back surgery in November of 2017 and wasn't cleared to start playing again until Feb or March of 2018. I also wasn't released from my surgeon's care until Sept 2018.

I'm headed on tour this year to Texas, TN, Louisiana, however.

In undergrad, as part of my music stipend, I volunteered to play horn for one semester. After that one semester, I "ran screaming and kicking" back to the familiar trenches of tuba. I never could get a slur between the two sides of the horn smooth. I never could get my right hand in exactly the right places to keep tone consistent. My embouchure, well, never mind. Congrats if he can stay with it and master it.

So you can imagine how relatively easy it was for me to pick up tuba after getting reasonably good on the horn. You just need to learn to REALLY BLOW.

Nice playing there! Our oldest daughter started band this year and we put her on horn (she's got a good ear and there are never enough good horn players around here! ). When we've got all our kids in band, we'll have our own brass ensemble!
