The Weather Channel's Nonsense-Please Don't Play Along!

The Weather Channel's naming of winter storms like the NWS names tropical storms is nonsense! If this were a good idea because our North American Continental weather systems are analogous to tropical storms, the NWS would have long since adopted it.
Our weather systems are fragmented and irregular, occasionally coalescing into a monstrous storm in any season. Developing solid meteorological criteria, (the number of people who are inconvenienced by these storms isn't a meteorological datum), is virtually impossible. Hence we see the lack of NWS-named US storm systems.
Forgive the shouting, but PLEASE CEASE AND DESIST PLAYING ALONG WITH THE WEATHER CHANNEL'S SCATTERSHOT NAMING OF CONTINENTAL US STORM SYSTEMS!
