I played for about 10 years, whole lot of fun. I would love to get into a game again oneday if I could find a good DM. It was a great way to spark the imagination of a young boy and was also highly educational. I learned more about mythology and medieval life playing D&D than I did in school.

I think Dumbledore would have wicked stats as a character!

I played for a few years as a DM, but I didn't really like it, and my friends were miserably bad at it. On the plus side, it was free pizza every friday night, so that was good.

Anyone else play D&D? I absolutely love the game. I've been a fan of video game RPGs like the Final Fantasy series, etc., but D&D is something different. I love it because the possibilities are really only limited by the imagination.

While I admit the possibilities of D&D are certainly attractive, I have never really found too much enjoyment in the game. My responsibility would always be that of the dungeon master, generating mounds of paperwork and stats to track and books to read. And of course, there was always that one crafty little bugger who destroyed your whole system of traps with one well thought-out action. I can still respect those who play, though.

I never played legit D&D, but a buddy of mine wrote his own scenario based on the zombie apocalypse and we used the D&D algorithms to make the mechanics work. It was a lot of fun-- lasted most of fall semester. Anybody else have experience with custom D&D games? Or other pencil/paper RPGs?

I played D&D in college. Fun game. The Dungeon Master in the dorm had a great three-panel screen he made up with the most common reference charts and so nobody could see his random monster rolls. On the front of the screen he put:

We all got a laugh out of it. Now, before you think he had any meglomaniac tendencies, he was the first guy to tell you that when the campaign was over, it stayed on the table, unlike a lot of folks who played who, um, er, blurred the line between reality and the game table.

Great times. On occasion I wish I had the time to put everything away and be a part of another 24 to 48 hour straight campaign with pizza and soda ongoing and then being able to crash for two days' straight after it was over.

Just wondering who out there in tuba/euph world (other than myself) also spends some time in the D&D world. Of course, any opinions/bashing of the game are welcome!

Every friday and saturday night of my freshman, sophomore, and junior years of high school I would have 2-15 people come over and we would play some Role Paying Game. The one we most played was D&D(version 3.5!), but we had many games trying the Star Wars RPG(love it!), Lord of the Rings RPG(meh), all the D20 system games(future, modern, forgot the rest), even Hackmaster and the Vampire D10 system(didn't like those).

We were pretty hardcore, but quickly became disinterested our senior year.

I've never met anyone that's made fun of it that has actually played it(with a good Dungeon master and mature players).
I learned a lot from it too. Some really neat vocab words...

I would play it again, but only with the people I played with from high school, and only in the summer. No time during school.
