My Photobucket account is kaput

Post by roweenie »

After many years, they've finally caught up with me and screwed up my Photobucket account.

I've tried Flickr, Imgur, and Google Photos, and with each one, I have not been able to figure out how to embed photos here. For all its faults, I found Photobucket very easy and straightforward to use, compared to these.

Any suggestions as to where I should go from here?

Thanks elephant, I also looked into SmugMug, and couldn't figure that one out, either....

I have no problem with paying that amount, but I'll be damned if I'll pay for a service I can't figure out how to use.....

Any pointers?

for now: no registration, free upload.
Personally, I just right-click the images - once uploaded - to get their URL's.

suggestion: Consider not relying on "the cloud". Keep your own stuff on your own physical storage...

...or do otherwise.

Even emailing yourself photos and - in the subject line - typing something like
PHOTO 7-8-19 - sousaphone bloke screwed up with trying to fix it

might (??) be safer than "cloud" storage. Eventually, all "free" storage is confiscated and eventually all websites (free or paid) go kaput.

Remember "acidplanet"...?? It was Image "H-U-G-E".
I tried that, and when I do, all I get is a LINK to my photo, not an embedded photo....maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Right, key point is that like any page with an image on it, you're looking for the address of the image that smugmug presents to you, not the page with the image on it. I've messed that up a couple of times when my brain wasn't working.

Yes, that really was a very strange embouchure.

And it was memorable. I cannot un-see it.

Sorry guys, I realized it was just a little too strange...

Actually, it's from a really crappy 1961 movie called "Mr. Sardonicus" -

It's kinda schlocky, but in an interesting way - and, it's got Oskar Homolka in it too!
