The original DoH TV series always seemed like a dumbed-down combination of "Smokey and the Bandit" and "The Andy Griffith Show". The new production is a remake of that? How sad.

Maybe you've just got to be a southern boy to appreciate it. :?

Was that show popular in the South? I was always vaguely offended by it.

It did pre-date the Simpsons, didn't it?

The movie, much like the show, will be awesome. I'm counting on it.

I for one am not going to see the movie. I don't think that Sean William Scott and Jonny Knoxville are right for the roles of Bo and Luke. The only reason to see this movie maybe to see Jessica Simpson in a bikini.....

Never liked the TV show, therefore will not spend the money on the movie. I never saw anything funny or entertaining about the original. Then again, I did watch Starsky and Hutch. When it comes on HBO eventually I might watch it if there's nothing else on, if just for the bikini shots.

There had to be a mitigating factor (or two) somewhere ...

I'll probably check it out because I am a fan of the show. (Jessica Simpson is also another reason.)

It's written and directed by Broken Lizard, though. I wasn't a big fan of Club Dread but I loved Super Troopers!

I heard that most of the 1969 Dodge Chargers of the world were destroyed during the making of the original TV series.

Interestingly enough, I saw one just last week as I was driving around, close to Loganville, Georgia. From what I could tell, it was an authentic General Lee in every detail. It had the paint job, the wheels, and stock car style the gas cap. There was even an archery set in the car, visible from the back window.

Saw it, didn't like it.

I was a big fan of the TV series, just like most of the kids my age seemed to be.

**Semi-spoiler alert**

What annoyed me, though, was the amount of cussing and outright disrespect for the law (as inept as Roscoe is). The old Bo & Luke still had this streak of goodness, trying to get the right stuff done even if "the Law" hasn't figured things out yet.

The new characters are just plain obnoxious, though. There's no reason for them to be flipping the bird. I feel that they completely missed the spirit of the original series.

That's the kind of stuff Cooter was complainuing about. They just didn't get the series.

In 5 years the movie willbe forgotten, but the series will continue to draw fans for another 20+ years. My 10 year old is now a fan, and will probably pass that on to his kids later. If the rerelease the series on the next video format anyway...

I just saw the movie and was pleasantly surprised. I went in not expecting a revival of the series but a movie written and directed by Broken Lizard (Super Troopers). To expect Jay Chandrasekhar to make a movie straight from the original show is unfair. He just added his own twist to the movie. I thought it was fun to watch (especially Daisy :D ).

Doc wrote:Why would I piss off my $$$ on some disrespectful **** like that? It's not true to the series. Bo and Luke would not act like that in modern times, despite the opinion of some. I hope the damn thing flops.

I hope it does, too. I actually want my $7 back.

...Actually, I need to see this one, as it is "a study in southern folklore"  (even though Cooter don't seem to be very approving  ...

Well, now that I think of it, I can't exactly ask for the money back because a friend paid for it (in lieu of gas money).

I would have rather seen it on one of our bus trips or something, though. Heck, I fell asleep during what was probably the second car action scene.

They should have made a sequel the dukes of hazard 20 years later...

Couldn't you just see it with the General Lee up on blocks in the front yard and Cooter sitting drinking beer.....

Daisy all fat with 12 kids......
