Get off the beaten path and check out the blues clubs on North Clark Street. Local Chicago blues bands nightly. Sweet Home Blue Chicago.

EDIT EDIT

Whoops

Sorry!... I just noticed that you are only 19!

Forget the blues clubs and just go to The Pier and ride the Ferris wheel.

There are free concerts given by the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra at the Pritzker Pavillion in Millenium Park, which is just off Michigan and Monroe Streets and near the Lake. For the schedule, see:

The South Shore train goes directly from Chicago to South Bend, the home of WWBW. It's a bit of a ride and I'm not sure how far the store is from the train station. Give Roger Lewis a call. He will help you out and you can also determine when he will be available.

Alex F. has it. Take the South Shore. You can pick the train up no far from Symphony Center, and the South Bend Airport is the last stop. It'll take about 2.5 hours, but you just hop in a cab at the airport and you are at the WAB in 5 min. Piece of cake!

Just don't try swimming at that spot, along the river at the Sun-Times building. It ain't there no more! There's this guy from New York who tore it down and wants to build a tower there named after himself.

South Shore trains start and terminate from the Randolph Street Station which is on Randolph Street just east of Michigan Ave. This would be a couple blocks south of your hotel, which is at Michigan and Wacker. In fact, Millenium Park and the Pritzker Pavillion were built over the Metra/South Shore RR tracks.
One other not to be missed opportunity is a sunset skyline cruise. Boats operated by Wendella and Mercury are docked in ther river at Michigan and Wacker. A cruise will take you through the Chicago Controlling Locks and out into Lake Michigan. The view is spectacular.
and Bloke. . . re the late Sun-Times Building - it never won any awards for architecture but, like a lot of other things, it kind of grew on you and remains etched in memory. What will replace it is just another tall building that happens to have TRUMP written all over it.

Cubs tickets? The way this season is unravelling, you may want to head over to the north side and catch a White Sox game. They are the best team in the league, after all...

You might have spent a little to much time in NY watching the Red Sox beat up the Yankees! In Chicago the Cubs lose on the North Side and hopefully the White Sux will blow their lead on the south side.
A few famous quotes from Chicago:
"Vote early, vote often,"
"The next best thing to the Cubs winning is the White Sox losing,"
"Watch for rock band busses while under the Michigan Ave. bridge,"
"We're for the Cubs and whoever plays the White Sox."
"In Chicago there is no Chicago Deep Dish Pizza (it's called pizza), There are no Chicago style Hot Dogs (they are called Hot Dawgs), There is no such a thing as the Chicago School of Brass Playing (it's called Brass Playing)."
"There is no coruption in City Hall."

Yeah, stupid mistake on my part. Cubs north, Sox south.
Why hate the Sox so much? I'm a Yankee fan, but hold no ill will against the Mets. I only hate one team--the Red Sox. (OK...I also hate the Miami Dolphins, but that's a different sport.)
Chicago is one city I've always wanted very much to visit. Hopefully I'll get there soon.

I actually missed the spot here you said you'd be there next week (chalk that one up to not reading carefully). And to be honest, I wasn't even thinking about you actually going there...just felt it needed pointing out that the ChiSox are by far the better team in Chicago this year.
-Tim Murphy, who hasn't been to Yankee Stadium since May.
