Were I grew up, one of the local streams was called Red Clay Creek. Hmmmm.

Must have been going on a while. When I as a kid in the 1950s, the nearby city park had four red clay tennis courts. The city always fixed them up at the beginning of the summer, and after the first rain when idiots would go leave huge footprints in the clay, they were unusable.
