Friday September 2 at 8:00pm Eastern time.
"In response to the hurricane tragedy, NBC is airing a live, hour-long benefit special featuring artists with ties to the affected areas, including Tim McGraw, Harry Connick, Jr. and Wynton Marsalis. To help those in need immediately, the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund is accepting donations through its website and hotline. Visit http://www.redcross.org/ or call 1-800-HELP NOW for more information."
I will be working the phone lines tomorrow night during and after the concert to accept donations for hurricane relief. (Capital One is donating facilities and our employees are working the phones). I hope that everyone will help in whatever way they can.

Yep - donated today in fact. I'll be watching the concert too.

I know this is going to sound wrong no matter how I type it, but..
I'd be interested to know if the artists themselves are donating. Do they only think a concert is enough, or will they step up with the money too (which is more important)? It's easy to sing a song and ask someone else to give.
I wondered the same thing back in january after the tsunami. I'm hoping the generosity is really there. It was heartening to hear about an hour ago that Diddy (P. Diddy? etc) just donated $1 million here in Atlanta.
