Can a rotary 4th valve paddle be changed to the left?

Post by eupho »

So my major axe is a 3+1 comp euphonium. I also play BBb tuba when needed. Is it possible to flip the tuba's 4th valve paddle to the left so it can be played with the left hand? Or is there another way to make it left-hand activated? Thanks.

I'd ask a repair tech or sell your tuba and get a 3+1 BBb tuba instead.

I've seen left hand fifth valves, so it's certainly possible. My question to you is why? I understand being comfortable on 3+1 but in all honesty just get comfortable using the pinky and save the money.

I am with the CooperBayliff: sell it and get a 3+1 BBb tuba. That's the opposite situation as to why I went with a 4-in-line tuba: my hands are the opposite. My left hand wanted to take over and I could not play a 3+1.
