Is there such as thing as a filler (putty) for metal like there is for wood or plastic? I do model airplanes from time to time, so I've used putty there to fill gaps or seams. The Eb tuba I'm going to flip to front action has an engraving from a school district I'd like to get rid of without sanding it off and removing a bunch of metal.

Could add to the engraving to hide whatever is undesirable.

The engraving is a school district name and number, so it's nothing fancy. The trouble is that it is on the front of the bell, just under the leadpipe and follows the contour of the leadpipe. So when I flip it to a front action horn, it will be going the opposite way, and will likely be partially covered.

engravers have a way of mostly erasing scratches with a tiny burnisher. It takes a long time, special tools and skills. a tuba bell might be kind of thin for that technique, especially without something behind the bell.
