Okay... Ferree's Z60 Dent machine...

If you plan to do mainly brass work... a Z-60 will certainly make your life easier. However... $2,000 is just a start. For the tool to be REALLY useful... you'll also need the power rollers, tuba bow, and sousaphone knee tools. Buy the base, too!

I'm trying to set up a home shop. I primarily work on large brass, and the current floorspace at my place of work gives me a 3x3 area to work on sousaphones and tuba dents (It's horrendous). We have a Z60, but NO place to put it, I have used it for bells and bows and LOVE IT.

I just needed some other opinions as I will be spending my own money to get it, and to save my sanity.

What all does the Z60 ($1600) come with when you order it?

There are literally dozens of 'extras' available for the Z-60. $1,600 buys you the basic machine. You can easily spend a equal amount of money for just a few more 'extras'. Your best bet is to give Ferrees a call and let them line out what will you give you the best 'bang for your buck' for exactly what you want to do.

Of course... Ferrees is in business to sell equipment but they are also VERY knowledgeable and helpful. I bought my Z-60 used about twenty years ago and even then they were willing to show me how to use it an invited me to spend a few days in Battle Creek taking lessons from Gary Ferree (RIP). I bought a bunch of stuff but the hands-on work was priceless.
