Ya know, for years I have wanted to take a YBB-201 Tuba, and configure it like one of those Lehnert Toilet seat (centennial) tubas. I have played a few of the Ebs and LOVE the way the sit on my shoulders without straining only one side of my back.

He somehow read my thread as an instruction manual, that the tiny bit I showed in text and photos was actually a complete list of the work done. ...
There's comment you made somewhere about buying a cornet and messing around with that....

That is solid advice, everyone who wants to try a horn, should get a cheap instrument (<$50) (Trumpet, cornet, horn... whatever) and mess around with that. In the worst case they can end up with a wall decoration. In the best of cases they can appreciate the challenges, realize the limitations caused their "inexistant" skills and tools and move on or decide to get better.

I don't see why that Eb idea couldn't work, if you don't have too many specifics as to how it looks and where everything goes. Wade might know more of the plan, but just making an old Eb in to a rotary doesn't sound like rocket surgery.

I've also contemplated making one of those Couesnon E flat tubas into something different.....(I've got the one I played on way back in grade school!)

It's encouraging to hear that a larger valve cluster improved it somewhat.

(The Buescher baritone hanging next to it will someday become a BBb cimbasso.....I hope...)

Is it the York Eb? I heard of a 5 valve York Monster Eb being sold somewhere, and thought of the one you put together, Joe.
