Hi! I'm pretty new to the idea of modifying and have gotten a wild bug. Is it possible to adapt a straight bell to having the option of a recording bell? I like having the option since I grew up playing Reynolds, King, Conn, and Besson bell fronts. Just curious.

Not to my certain knowledge, but you could theoretically do the opposite, provided it's a detachable recording bell.
When you want to play it "upright", turn it so the opening is perpendicular to the body, and hold the horn on a 90-ish degree angle.
I have done this on a few rare occasions - not perfect, but will do in a pinch.

Contact Tuba Tinker. He knows how to replace the bell stack with one with a collar and tenon to be able to interchange bells.
