Mouthpipe bending tips

Post by roweenie »

Does anyone have any "nuggets" they can pass on as how to effectively bend mouthpipes (getting it right on the first try)?

- specifically, how to gain the leverage needed to make bends at the extreme large end?

I drill a chamfered hole in my wooden workbench, stick the annealed & filled pipe in the hole, and bend. Works great for pipe that size! Can also be used for all bends in the leadpipe.

Excellent idea - many thanks! Do you have a specific bit you can recommend I get?

Just big enough to fit the pipe (so +20mm for a leadpipe).
