I have a student with a Mack Brass Comp Euphonium. Her 2nd valve slide (on front) is constantly coming loose and even falls out. She either doesn’t have the means or willingness to get it to a repair shop, so I’m looking for some advice to see if I could help (and do no harm).
My solution for now for her is a Velcro cord wrap to hold it in.
Thanks,
Jason

Re: Euph slide falling
An easy fix if she doesn’t want to take it to a brass repair tech, is for her to use a heavier grease on that one slide. I use Herman’s #8 on that slide.

Re: Euph slide falling
Thanks, guys. Grease or no grease, it comes out.
My thought was also to tweak the slides a bit, but I might just show her how to do it....

Re: Euph slide falling
Unless she bought the euph used or has had it for more than two years (and assuming she hasn't abused the horn), have you (has she) contacted Mack Brass to inquire about getting the slide replaced under warranty?

But what if it is the external tubes that are too large, and not the internal slides being too small?sungfw wrote:Unless she bought the euph used or has had it for more than two years (and assuming she hasn't abused the horn), have you (has she) contacted Mack Brass to inquire about getting the slide replaced under warranty?
