Miraphone 188 Leadpipe
I’m looking to buy an 80s/early 90s Miraphone 188 the only problem is the leadpipe has started to red rot. How much would a new miraphone nickel leadpipe cost and would it even fit the older horn?

Re: Miraphone 188 Leadpipe
I know it's a different part, but at least this could give an order of magnitude:

Your part, bought, shipped, and installed... Maybe around $500 total?
Miraphone parts are easy to get, but for they only sell through dealers or repair people, not to just anyone who asks. I think if you tell them the serial number, you should be in good shape.
If you're worried about getting parts for a certain era, talk to Wade "the elephant"... He's doing a major rebuild of two vintage Miraphones, and he's been placing all kinds of orders for all kinds of parts...
Short answer, don't let this stop you from buying that tuba, it's probably a great one. Unless it's got the presto linkage. In which case it's great, but has crazy linkages.
