Hi all,

I posted 3 instruments for sale a while back and this is the only one remaining. It's a niche instrument (6/4's are for a specific purpose and player, obviously), but this one truly plays like a dream--has the response of a 4/4! I'm now asking $11,900 for this great instrument (that is less than what I paid for it in 2001).

Here's some info. from the original post:

YORK CC (Rusk-Cut):

I am not at all happy about selling this instrument. It is simply FANTASTIC! But huge. There are 4 piston valves and 1 rotor valve on this sliver plated instrument. If you're looking particularly for a BAT this would be one of the best ones out there. The response on this instrument is simply amazing (esp. for a big horn), and the intonation is easily manageable. The bulk of the instrument is made from an old (1920?) York BB-flat tuba, that Bob Rusk cut down to a CC and added a Meinl Weston valve section to. It's got some dings and scratches and the plate job that Bob and David Fedderly had done to it is not spectacular, but it plays like a dream. I simply don't do enough large ensemble playing to make this horn worth its investment. It does well in auditions as I have advanced using this horn....but the horn really steps into action for those folks already playing in a gig...everytime I do get to play this thing with an orchestra, I get more compliments (esp. from my trombone colleagues) than ever. I chose this York in 2001 from BBC (David Fedderly's shop) from a set of 3 Rusk-Cut Yorks that he had at the time.

I was also reminded about a write-up I did on the OLD Tubenet regarding a bunch of Army Band colleagues trying out this York that I have for sale against some PT-6's, some 2165's and a Yorkbrunner. I'm located in central Illinois at Illinois State University in Bloomington/Normal, Illinois. I welcome all interested buyers to come down to my studio and give this horn a try.

I also have an assistantship open for next year, so interested college seniors could work an audition/free lesson into this visit as well, if interested.

Just a reminder that I'll be bringing this 6/4 York CC to the Army Band Tuba/Euph. Conference for those that would like to give it a whirl. I'll be around the whole time--I'm playing Wed. night with the Army Brass Quintet (solos) and my tuba/euph. Ensemble from ISU is playing on Friday. I'll try to get the horn over to Baltimore Brass's area for the day on Saturday.

My 6/4 York CC is now in the hands of David Fedderly at Baltimore Brass. Now some of you east coasters who expressed an interest in this fine instrument can give 'er a whirl over in Baltimore.

im in Baltimore.....i play tuba.....but i only have $20.......i dont think youd let me take that tuba off your hands for that much?

but really my teacher works at baltimore brass, and he was telling me about your horn there and it sounds good.

My CC Rusk-Cut York 6/4 is still for sale with David Fedderly at Baltimore Brass Co., but is now just $10,500! Please stop in and check this very unique, and amazing horn out! I wish I had a use for it to justify keeping it around!
