MW 182 for sale $2000

Post by Chris Olka »

Hello fellow tuba knuckle heads!!!!!!
Up for sale is a Meinl Weston 182, 5 rotary valve f tuba with hardcase. It is in fairly good shape with the exception of one decent size dent in the top branch and a small wrinkle in the bell. It was there when I bought it and I have not put any more in it since I got it. I bought this horn for taking on vacation when I needed a tuba to practice on and it has served that purpose well. However, I have discovered that vacations are MUCH more enjoyable when I don't take a tuba to practice on and so you guessed it....this baby has got to go!!! Again it is in good mechanical order with the exception of the big dent and bell wrinkle.

This little f tuba would make a great horn for a euphonium player looking to double. It has a great high register and Bydlo is a can't miss proposition on this horn. Very in tune, with a solid low register. Very friendly tuba. However, make no mistake, it has a small, lean sound and won't quite work for Fountains, Ride, Prok. 5, Shosty 5. You know, the standard f tuba literature ;)hahahaha

Anyway, this would make a great starter f tuba for someone and works quite well for solo, chamber, and light orchestral repetoire. Midsummer Night's Dream comes to mind along with Petrouchka and Berlioz overtures.

It comes with a hardcase and will be bathtubbed before it is sold. I will knock off $50 if I can send it dirty to the buyer. I am asking $2000+buyer pays shipping.

That must be one of the quickest sales ever on TubeNet - looks like it was gone in 12 minutes!

I got one of these beauties a month ago - what a wonderful high register tone - ideal for Bydlo and such like.

Yeah, great price...but I already have a MW 182 F. Don't need another, no matter what the price.
