borrow flight case for MW30?

Post by bort »

I'm going to Austria in June, and may need to bring my tuba along for the ride (the director says they might be able to arrange for a tuba to be available over there for me).

I play on an MW 30 (pretty standard 4/4 size horn, 17" bell).

In the event that I do need to fly with my horn, does anyone (reasonably close to Baltimore) have a flight case I could borrow for the trip? (There would, of course, be some sort of compensation involved.) I just know that I can't shell out the bucks to buy a flight case that I'll only use once or twice.

I have a standard hard case that should be good for a plane trip(and fit your horn) if you are smart about stuffing a basketball or some foam in the bell(90% of flight damage doesn't damage the case but crushes the bell when the case is dropped and the weight of the horn squishes the bell. Putting something in the bell prevents this from happening.) The case is in good servicable but used condition. Pictures available if you like. I'll let it go for $150 somewhat negotiable.
