FS: Meinl Weston Bill bell model CC 5 Rotor MW 37 PRICE DROP

Post by EMC »

It is with a heavy heart that I put this up for sale, but it is necessary in order to help myself move on, this and a few other Tubas (2 BBb an Eb and an F) will be up for sale soon. As for the bell, These horns among are some of the best out there and this one is no exception, it is not one of the detachable bell versions but it is indeed an older one it has the markings and the interchangeable 5th valve slides to prove it. It has a .689 bore with I believe 16 inch bell If I remember correctly, or maybe 16.5, 4 + 1 valve configuration, the rotors have been upgraded to uniball, all rotors are vented and all slides aligned the rotors are incredibly fast and make very little noise and Almost none when a nice thick oil is applied to the linkages, the lacquer is patchy but honestly I think it adds to the character, there's hardly a dent to speak of on this one either. It is truly in prime playing condition. I'd highly recommend this to student needing a good do it all CC as I have been using it for that reason, but really any Tuba player would find great use for it. Intonation is great, only the very common problems, flat D in the staff the lower register below Ab can be Sharp, but everything else was perfectly manageable for me and presented no real problems, notes below low G can be stuffy but with the right mouthpiece that side of the horn can be opened up if needed. This horn is great for solos I might add, very nimble and clean sounding articulation with an easy high register. I'm asking $4000 I would prefer a check for this one but if necessary I'll accept PayPal as long as ththe buyer will cover the fee, horn is in El Paso, local pick up is great otherwise I'll ship greyhound. I'd rather not have ups destroy this horn so I'll only ship by them if absolutely necessary.

Despite being ugly, this tuba plays very well; I can attest to this, having previously owned it. I shouldn't have sold it, but certain life circumstances made me do so. Someone is going to get a great tuba! :D

To me, the Bell model plays like a Miraphone 186 with a darker sound and doesn't break up as easily. Don't be deceived by the bore/bell specs, these are very capable instruments. I haven't played this specific tuba, but I would expect it to be a great tuba.

I also forgot to mention that I had Joe bloke it up when it was mine, so it should be in pristine mechanical condition.
