FS: Mike Thornton's PT-10. SOLD!

Post by tylerferris1213 »

Hello everyone! As stated, I am looking to sell my B&S PT-10. I am the second owner. It was picked out of the litter by Mike Thornton, who used it as his primary F for his career. This is a German Democratic Republic era instrument.

I had never been a big fan of PT-10's until I tried this one. Within the first few notes, I fell in love with the big German sound. It plays like a dream! The only reason I'm selling it is because I have come to realize I don't need an orchestral F tuba. I am opting to buy a smaller piston F for solo and quintet use.

For a horn of its age, it is in great shape! There are a few small dents that Mike put there while he owned it. They do not affect playability. There is also some lacquer wear in the usual places. The horn is in ready-to-play condition. It comes with an altieri gig bag, or I can include a tuxedo gig bag for $50 extra. I am asking $7,000 for it, but I will entertain reasonable offers. The horn is located in Cleveland for anyone who wants to play test it. Anyone interested can email me at tylerferris1213@gmail.com" target="_blank" target="_blank. I will also email pictures!

I played this horn briefly a few weeks ago and it is a great example of an old GDR Perantucci Model (PT10). This will be a great F for whoever buys it. The linkages were solid, horn played as you would expect. Only down side are a couple of bruises from a well-used older horn, but you wouldn't know by playing it!

Thanks, Bob! Like you said, it does have some dents on the bottom bow and main tuning slide, but Mike Thornton put them there. I figure if he didn't feel the need to take them out, neither do I!
