When looking at them i would get piston over rotary because of their sound and the rotary models i have played have had some intonation issues where the piston versions have been pretty solid. I would also recommend not getting one with a bell larger than 7 inches as they sound more like a trombone. Also most are made.with a trumpet size bore and a larger bore is more like a tenor tbone sound.
